The Wheel of Time Will Be Adapted as a TV Series

Robert Jordan's widow says an official announcement is imminent.

In a press statement, Harriet McDougal -- the editor of the Wheel of Time novels and widow of Robert Jordan -- announced an official announcement about the forthcoming series should be coming from a studio soon.

"Wanted to share with you exciting news about The Wheel of Time. Legal issues have been resolved. The Wheel of Time will become a cutting edge TV series! I couldn’t be more pleased," she wrote on Google+. "Look for the official announcement coming soon from a major studio."

Wheel of Time was included on IGN's list of the 5 unadapted fantasy series that deserve Hollywood's attention. One of the most recognizable and popular fantasy series of all time, Wheel of Time is a massive epic with a sprawling cast of characters that tells the story of the quest to find the Dragon Reborn and stop the Dark One.

In 2015, Red Eagle Entertainment released a low budget "pilot" for Wheel of Time that aired late in the night on FXX, seemingly in an attempt to hold onto the series' rights. After McDougal claimed no knowledge of the project, Red Eagle sued her for slander, though it seems those legal problems have since been resolved.

Pues los primeros 5 o 6 libros tienen interés y cierta coherencia... a partir de ahí nada de nada.. se leen simplemente para ver como acaba la historia. Será interesante... supongo que querrán seguir la línea seguida por HBO con Juego de Tronos.

La historia tiene cosas interesantes y originales pero en otros sentidos está muy lejos de la calidad literaria y de profundidad de JdT

A mí la saga me gustó. Evidentemente hay mucha paja y cosas prescindibles.

Tendrán narices para llevar a la pantalla sin endulzar a las que probablemente son las personajes feneminas (no se salva ni una que recuerde) más absolutamente ODIOSAS de la historia de la literatura?

Esa saga por lo menos esta terminada (de milagro). A ver si esta vez la hacen fiel y no salen por la tangente (JdT, Walking Dead, ...) xD

Lo que está perpetrando Martin con GoT es sencillamente de ser un profesional de auténtica mierda. Talento, el que quieras. Mirar por tu obra y sus seguidores ya no es que sea cero, es que está en negativo por millares.

Una saga que me tenía loco perdido, a día de hoy no tengo ni interés en seguir con la trama en los libros.

Al menos Jordan dejó más o menos como acababa la historia. Martin creo que no lo tiene claro ni él. La calidad literaria creo que difiere varios enteros o quizá están escritas para diferentes públicos.

A mi la serie de TV me parece que mejora algunos "deslices" de los libros que no aportaban nada y otras escenas están muy bien. Pasa de nosotros? yo creo que a tope... y eso que me he leído todos los libros y el último es francamente mejorable... De todos modos creo que está pensando mucho más en rentabilizar que en otra cosa.
