Joe, two questions, will you add Olive Trees and Orange trees together with Cypress trees? With those trees we will be able to replicate the Italian campaign between american and german troops.
And the second one, can we get shorter windows for the buildings? currently they look like doors.
the windows are need so that soldiers can walk on the blue 'Nav-Mesh' in and out of the building.(on top you can see a stairwell, soldiers use to climbe building levels. we also need big windows for firing outside the building. so no
there is decoration in game like benches masts etc. there are similar buildings which works same but has just a different 3D modell.
but beside of that all terrain features has different functions and all has different impact on cover and/or movment.
walls and hedges for example are very different.
(a tank behind a wall can only be hit in turret, when it hits the wall then no hit)
the orchard hinders targeting, while woods blocks targeting for two levels.
the rocks give protection in hex and hinders flat LOS while the brush only hinders flat LOS. (not via road)
the most dangerous terrain is the open ground without any hindrance bewteen target and firer. only the beach is more dangerous...
so adding new terrain must be done very carefully and only with good reasons. and must be clearly seen as what it is.
the LOS is very long especialy with MGs. so every move you do outside of buildongs in LOS of enemy is uncertain and dangerous.
when designing a map. it is not very helpfull to have big spots of open ground. that might sometimes look not realsitic. but you need woods and buildings (no other) for troops to run away in a closer distance.
