Welcome to Grand Tactician: Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) forum!
Mon Général!
Welcome to follow the development of Grand Tactician: Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815)!
We will keep you posted on the progress here on the forums, with regular developer's blog to be released on Steam as well.
If you are new to Grand Tactician, Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) is the second title in the real-time strategy game series, developed by us, the Grand Engineer Corps, a small independent team of developers. The first title, The Civil War (1861-1865), was released in 2021 (with Early Access release in late 2020). Grand Tactician, which began its life in 2016, is all about our endeavour to create immersive, deep strategy games, where a real-time campaign is combined with large scale land battles. On the campaign layer you are faced with military leadership level dilemmas like management of large armies and supporting them with the nation's economy, production capabilities and logistics. But, warfare is nationwide effort, where politics and the population play a major role - while focus may be in operations, the home-front's resilience and support must be sustained. And then there's of course the enemy too! In battles, your orders are carried by couriers, creating order delays. Fog of War is ever present, terrain and weather play their role, and once the shooting starts, morale and cohesion play a major role, not just mere numbers.
If you are a veteran of Grand Tactician, Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) will continue along the same path as the Civil War. What you can already see in the announcement trailer is we have rebuilt the battle layer from zero, using new technology that earlier was not available. This allows up to 1:1 scale in soldiers with tens of thousands of 3D models shown - with better performance than we ever could achieve with the old engine, with battles taking place in maps generated from campaign topography, matching the campaign situation and terrain. The combat mechanics are as you know from The Civil War, but upgraded in many places to allow more realistic details, with a new battle AI as your opponent. The campaign layer will receive a similar overhaul. But more about this and all the other changes a bit later!
Again, thank You for visiting the game's forum!
