Re: Seven Years War
concerning unit experience:
you can recruit units in your provinces, some have special abilities and are only recruitable in one province or in limited numbers (e.g. scottish highlander infantry or the prussian gardegrenadiere). depending on the unit type the soldiers have special strength or abilities (e.g. british grenadiers can play fife and drum music to gain morale during battle). by researching new weapons you can change the fighting parameters of your units (e.g. heavier artillery leads to higher fir range and strength but also to speed decreases). units can gain experience through battles or in campaign mode they can be set in maneuvre modus, which means they are trained and gain experience (cost effective due to high ammunition use).
officers on regiment, brigade or division level add to experience and prevent early moral crack in battles. the commanders gain experience in their current branch of service - e.g. if you assign an infantry commander to an artillery regiment some of his experience gets lost. the higher the experience is, the faster they can be promoted to higher ranks and positions. prisoner exchange is a very important medium to gain recruits that are already trained. there are also special nationwide policies which you can pick that lead to higher officer or army professionality - so you can take several decisions to increase strength of your army (like prussia for example did in real to compensate the enemyies numbers).
concerning supply lines:
this is a very important feature in . your troops permanently need to be supplied with food, ammunition and weapons. these supplies need to be produced in a complex product chain (e.g. wheat -> flour -> bread) - (therefore please take a look at the latest video describing the economy details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofNm_HUXXVg); if these supply lines are cut the army moral drops immediately which leads to desertions. so the game is a lot about maneuvring and clever attack and retreat routes instead of simple "survival of the strongest". supplying troops leads also to reduced troop numbers in the colonies as the economic potential there is lower than in europe. looting is implemented as well - so if your troops operate in enemy terrain you can substitute some portion of your supplies by "organising" within the local province which leads to lower supply usage but higher unrest (this again leads to higher enemy recruiting potential as upset civilians become volunteers).
concerning terrain advantages/disadvantages:
when two or more divisions meet in campaign mode the scene changes to battle mode - which is some kind of zoom in to the scene. in battle mode you can occupy hills, bridges, cities, farms and so on. every strategic position adds victory points and leads to special bonus/malus. on hills for example range increases and close combat is more difficult or cities and forrests decrease cavalry strength. at the moment buildings are not destroyable but that's an interesting aspect which i could pick up later.

Re: Seven Years War

Today "The Seven Years War (1756-1763)" got greenlit! Thanks for everybody who supported the project so far with ideas and inputs!
I will hurry up to develop the first beta version until august/september. Please follow this project further as there are still some milestones to reach and some community ideas to be implemented!
Cheers, Oliver

Re: Seven Years War
